Easiest Shortbread Ever

This shortbread recipe saved my life. I have been on the hunt for a tart base thats easy to make but still tastes delicious. This recipe has only three ingredients, which Im sure you’ll have at home all the time. Sugar, Flour and butter.

The dough, Oh, so forgiving. Unlike many other tart bases and cookies, you can work the dough a little bit.  The variations to this are endless. You can add lemon zest, sesame seeds, vanilla beans, lavender, ginger, cumin seeds, and the list goes on. So try this recipe and get creative. Just keep in mind to add a little less sugar if you are adding savoury flavours to it.

You can use this recipe for cookies, or tart bases or even as a crumble on top of apple crumbles or other desserts if you have over cooked it.

Recipe:
makes- 6 cookies or 1 Tart shell or 6 mini tart shells

Melted butter – 1/4 cup (measured after melting)
Flour- 1/2 cup
Sugar- 1/4 cup

For the shortbread, Preheat the over to 190 degrees. Mix the three ingredient until it forms a dough. Refrigerate for a few an hour. Roll it into a sheet, about 1/4th inch thick. Cut it into desired shapes and place it on a baking tray. Bake for about 25 minutes till they’re golden brown on the top.

Note-
If you want to add different flavours, first divide the dough, add the flavouring, give it a quick mix and then refrigerate.
