South Indian Tomato Macaroni

You might think this is really weird. You might also judge my taste in food. But try this out before you judge. Do not judge a recipe by its title. This is something I have been eating for a long long time. And I have also been enjoying it. It’s one of my favourite food.  Its a super simple dish to make and all you need is one pan and 15 minutes in hand. It surprisingly tastes good room temperature also. So it makes for a good meal on the go.

Here is the step-by-step:

In a saucepan, add some oil and mustard seeds. Once it starts to crackle, add in the dry red chillies, urad dal and cumin seeds, ginger and green chillies. Saute for a minute.

 

 

Add the red chilli powder and the turmeric powder and give it a good mix. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes.

Add in the cooked macaroni, the coconut and mix well.

Serve it with some coriander leaves garnished on top.

RECIPE:
Dry pasta- 2.5 Cups, cooked
Onions- 3 medium-sized onions, sliced
Tomatoes- 2 large, sliced
Green chillies- 2, sliced
1 teaspoon mustard- 1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon urad dal- 2 teaspoons
Dry chilli- 3
Cumin seeds- 1.5 teaspoons
Turmeric- 1 teaspoon
Chilli powder- 2 teaspoon
Grated coconut- 1/4 cup
  1. In a saucepan, add some oil and mustard seeds.
  2. Once it starts to crackle, add in the dry red chillies, urad dal and cumin seeds, ginger and green chillies. Saute for a minute.
  3. Add in the onions and some salt. Stir for a minute.
  4. Add the tomatoes after the onions turn translucent.
  5. Mix in the red chilli powder and the turmeric powder. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add in the cooked macaroni, the coconut and mix well.
  7. Serve it with some coriander leaves garnished on top.
